Quick answer
The Gunsmith starts with a Class 1 weapon permit, firearms and ammunition, but players report that the key printer modules are hard to find. The Retired Gunsmith, who visits weekly, reportedly carries them at 33% and 25% a visit. Until then, stick to filament chips such as .22 magazines.

This start is the least settled
Gunsmith gets the most complaints in early reviews, and module sources below are player reports, not confirmed rules. Patches may change this quickly.
What you start with
The developers describe the Gunsmith as weapons and mods with high margins and security inspections. You begin with a Class 1 weapon permit, a stock of firearms and ammunition. One guide also lists a Gunsmith Starter Kit, unlocked at 650 favor.
Why it feels hard
Players raise two problems. Many gun parts can't be crafted, so you rely on buying them. Some higher-tier work also needs modules that are hard to find, and one long Chinese review says they only come from a weekly seller at a 50% markup.
Where to find the modules
| Module | Value | Unlocks | Reported source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metal Printer | 300 | Metal chips; +50% power | Retired Gunsmith, 33% a visit |
| CNC | 400 | Frames and Gun Parts, with Metal Printer; -25% speed, +25% power | Retired Gunsmith, 25% a visit |
Weapon Permit II and III each reportedly add 15% to those chances. A player also saw both modules there with no permits, so a permit doesn't look essential. The Inventor may stock them later on, while one player upgraded Dr. Jackson fully and never saw them.
The Retired Gunsmith reportedly sells the 3D Printer on every visit and visits once a week. A player says chips cost about 300, and that one ingot yields 3 or 4 parts, but they didn't remember exact amounts.
What to print first
Metal chips need the Metal Printer Module. That's confirmed for 10mm magazines, frames, Gun Parts, Combat Knives and Combat Machetes, so expect the Scrap Metal recipes to need it too. Filament chips such as .22 magazines and Liberator Pistols don't use metal, so start with those.
The 3D Printer Calculator tags which chips need the module. Prints can also take more than one night, so check the Module Calculator.
Mercenaries buy weapons, armor and ammunition from about Day 12, with reported budgets of 300 to 348. Items with the same tag add up in the display case, so several cheaper items can bring in better buyers. See who buys what.
Permits
On other starts, one recorded run arranged a firearms permit through Joe Wild at about 30 Security reputation. Selling weapons brings inspections, so keep your Security reputation healthy and know what a bribe will cost in the shop calculators.
